MOUNT SINAI: FRONTIER OF BYZANTIUM

Cappella Romana the 8 members vocal music ensemble originating from Seattle in northern USA, offered two performances of Medieval Byzantine music based in handwritten codices from the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine on Mount Sinai (13th – 15th centuries) and a Master class for university and college music students to the Greek public in Patras, at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation, and in Athens, at the "Cotsen Hall" auditorium of the Gennadius Library at the American School of Classical Studies & at DEREE – The American College of Greece.The project was held under the Auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, Culture & Sports.

The music ensemble has already performed the specific repertoire at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, DC), at the J. Paul Getty Museum (LA) and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NY).

Live streaming broadcast of the Athens concert was implemented via DIAVLOS' service of EDET S.A..
